Abstract

Water scarcity in the Brazilian semiarid is seen as a problem that can affect the quality of water in aquifers and reservoirs, especially salinization. This research aimed to evaluate the water quality of alluvial aquifers in the Riacho do Tigre Basin - PB, in the Brazilian semiarid region. The analyzes were performed in shallow alluvial wells, using a multiparametric probe. Five alluvial wells were selected in different environments, which were monitored, observing the values of pH, conductivity, temperature, total dissolved solids and salinity. It was observed that the water quality was worse in November and better in March, with an improvement according to the increase in humidity and water recharges. The results show that the most suitable water for human consumption is that of well 3 and the least appropriate is that of well 1, according to the values obtained. The data can serve as a basis for integrated management and management of water resources, offering ways to create multi-scale strategies in order to improve water quality through proper treatment, and thus, use water for different purposes according to the quality presented.
