Abstract

The Maule Lagoon is located in the Andes Mountains in the VII Region of the country, approximately 150 km from the city of Talca. The morphology of both the lagoon and the adjacent areas is the result of ancient tectonic, volcanic and glacial processes. Among these, the most important are those of volcanic origin. At present, the most influential morphogenetic processes in the modeling are climatic. Mechanical weathering is so intense that it has generated thick layers of debris at the foot of the mountains that tend to bury the oldest forms.
